Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been the most highly anticipated movie of the year. Fans, young and old, have flocked to movie theaters across the world in order to see this movie. Countless advertisements have aired and everywhere you look there is Star Wars merchandise. This movie has had a lot of hype to live up to, and it did more than live up to those expectations; it surpassed them.
The main plot of the movie is that Luke Skywalker has disappeared and the First Order has risen to replace the Empire. The First Order’s main goal is to destroy the Resistance, a rebel force against them lead by General Leia Organa, and rule the galaxy. The cast contains members from the original trilogy such as Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. It also has some new characters including Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn and Oscar Issac as Poe.
The movie is fantastic. It looks beautiful and spectacular with incredible special effects and breath-taking scenery. Actors, both and old and new, give fantastic performances as their characters. The plot has many familiar elements to Star Wars fans that make the movie feel like the original trilogy we all know and love. The iconic music by John Williams makes a return in this movie and helps to keep the same feel of the previous installments. Battles are more action packed than ever and though there may be some heartbreak, the movie doesn’t fail to excite even the most cold-hearted Sith Lord in the galaxy.
Students at Lenape seem to agree. Sanjana Jampana(’18) says, “The Force Awakens was the perfect resurgence of the Star Wars series and did not disappoint in any way.” Helen Rodefeld (’16) says, “The movie did not disappoint. It was money well spent.”
The Force Awakens is a perfect 10/10. It is a must-see for anyone, whether you are completely new to the franchise or have been a fan for a while.
