Following the Eagles’ crazy win against the Commanders (leaving them still undefeated), I thought I’d write a little article about how great our Philly sports teams have been recently.
The Phillies have made it to Red October and will be playing the Marlins in the Wild Card game this year. Over the last 15 years, the Phillies have reached the playoffs on five occasions, specifically in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2022. They have appeared in three World Series, in 2008, 2009, and 2022, and emerged victorious in one of them, which was in 2008.
The Eagles just came back after an electric season last year looking okay. They haven’t fully gotten in their grove just yet but have managed to maintain a 4-0 record. Since 2008, the Eagles have had ten winning seasons, making the playoffs nine times. They won the Super Bowl in 2017 and lost in the Super Bowl last year.
The upcoming season for the 76ers is just around the corner, with their first game being an away game against the Bucks on the 26th. Since 2008, they have gotten a winning record nine times and made it to the playoffs nine times. Sadly, they haven’t managed to make it past the second round of playoffs in decades.
The Flyers’ season is also coming up with their first game being on October 12th. Since 2008, they’ve made it to playoffs eight times.
In conclusion, we’re pretty lucky for how great our sports teams have been doing! And, no matter what, at least you’re not a Bears fan (they haven’t won since week 7 of last year).
This is the first article I’ve written for the Smoke Signal and I’d like to write more sports articles. Tell me what sports I should write about by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/HjzveZpasUPJNaZMA
