We’ve seen many trends pass through the years, from jeans under dresses to bleached brows and even more. The new “ins” of the fashion world make up a huge part of our lives today. With the beginning of the new year, here are a few of my fashion trend predictions for this upcoming year:

1. Bows

With a surge of bows being used as accessories at the end of 2023, I predict these fun ribbons will continue at least through Winter 2024. Whether it be a bow in the hair, or bows anywhere, these will make a notable impression on fashion trends this year. 

2. Purple

From 2020 being about the extreme neon and the trending colors dimming since then, I think this year of healing will be filled with purple tones galore. Purple is a calming color, and overall well-liked. Specifically, lighter shades such as lilac will appear through this year’s theme of self-love and peace. 

3. 2014 Fashion Reemergence

There has been a pattern recently of trending fashions repeating every ten years, as we saw last year with 2023 regressing to some of the Tumblr 2013 fashions we know and love, (well, not all of us). So for 2024, 2014 trends can be predicted to return. Leather jackets, stripes, uggs, funky knitwear, animal prints, and LOTS of denim can be expected. History, unfortunately, always repeats itself. 

4. Death to Fruits

Starting in 2020 fruits, especially strawberries and cherries, were very prominent through many genres of clothing. From cool sunglasses to soft sweaters, fruits were everywhere. (In fast fashion especially). In this year of 2024, I predict death to the fruits! So long to cherry designs, and I believe another print may emerge, such as floral or animal prints.
