On Friday, January 29th, Lenape held its fourth annual Wellness Day! A single-session day filled with activities, food, and therapy dogs, Wellness Day is a beloved Lenape tradition made to celebrate the importance of mental health, learn wellness strategies, and calm down from a hectic first semester.
I say this every year, but Wellness Day 2024 has truly been the best one yet. This year, the day went a bit differently compared to years before, so here is a quick run-through of this year’s events!
- Throughout the day, teachers could bring their students down to the north cafeteria where different clubs had wellness activities set up. There was everything from slime making and cupcake decorating to dancing and strength competitions with Mr. Walker!
- Each grade had a dedicated period where they got to sign up for one wellness event run by teachers. I chose crocheting, but there were also events like friendship bracelet making and yoga with our therapy dog!
- Of course, there were also therapy dogs walking around all day to spread their comforting love.
While there were so many activities, I think slime-making has to be my favorite. But, let’s see what other students had to say!
- Aaditi Vinod, Senior: “Best Wellness Day yet. I think it was the most organized and overall just well put together.”
- Favorite activity: Cupcake decorating
- Anjela Anand, Senior: “I think Wellness Day is really important and I’m glad that we’re putting emphasis on it. And it was really put together well for the students.”
- Favorite activity: Cupcake decorating and slime making
- Ariana Prenaj, Senior: “It’s okay to step away and take the time to sort out your thoughts.”
- Favorite activity: Slime making and medical trivia
A big thank you to Ms. Wolf, Ms. Conte, the Wellness Club, and every student or teacher who worked effortlessly to put together this amazing day! It was truly a special, fun, and relaxing event, one that we are all so grateful to have experienced.
