Introduction:
We often forget that the staff we see at Lenape are people too, with lives just as complex as us students. In this new series of articles, I wanted to interview some of Lenape’s staff to learn more about them and what they do outside the classroom. This first article features Mrs. Sharp, a Biology teacher.
Interview:
What made you want to become a teacher?
“I’ve always loved school and couldn’t imagine a September coming where I wasn’t heading back to learn and grow. Science has always been a particular passion of mine—it’s not just about facts but about the process of discovery, problem-solving, and curiosity. Becoming a science teacher allows me to share that passion with others, sparking curiosity and showing students how science connects to their lives and the world around them. For me, teaching isn’t just a career; it’s a way to continue learning and inspire students to fall in love with science.”
How long have you been teaching at Lenape?

Why should a student take AP Biology?
“It is a fun hands-on lab based class that explores all of Life’s functions and Processes and we are all alive so it is important to understand! Also, you can earn college credits for 2 semesters of Biology.”
What do you enjoy most about being a teacher?
“What I enjoy most about being a teacher is the opportunity to work with my students. Each year, I get to meet a new group of learners, and together, we dive into the wonders of science. I love the moments when we have engaging conversations, uncover new discoveries, or see a topic from a fresh perspective. The curiosity, questions, and insights my students bring are what inspire me every day and keep me passionate about teaching. They are the reason I walk into the classroom with excitement, ready to explore and learn alongside them.”
