A Brief History of Valentine’s Day:
Valentine’s Day originated in both ancient Roman and Christian traditions. A saint named Valentine was a Christian martyr. He was executed on February 14 and the day became a celebration of love and courtship.
What is happening around the world?
In countries like Japan, many people celebrate Valentine’s Day by giving chocolates to the ones they admire. In France, Valentine’s Day theme cards are gifted are people they love. Other countries like Iran, Pakistan, India, and Uzbekistan do not celebrate Valentine’s Day at all.
Valentine’s Day at Lenape:
Many students dressed up in pink and red in honor of Valentine’s Day Roses were given to those who purchased them for others and delivered to classrooms. In front of the North Gym, Valentine’s Day-themed goodies were being sold for $2-3. Many gifts were exchanged and given to students.
